Murray makes first-team all-state

STEVENS POINT — The Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) released its boys basketball all-state selections on Wednesday, March 20, and four local athletes were chosen.

Darlington’s Will Murray was selected to the first team. He was the 2024 SWAL co-Player of the Year with Mineral Point’s Landon Thousand, making first-team all-conference for the second straight season. Murray averaged 18.9 ppg and 7.0 rpg, scoring a season-high 27 points twice during the season — a SWAL win over Iowa-Grant on Feb. 8 and a nonconference victory over New Glarus on Jan. 2. Murray scored his 1,000th career point in a SWAL win over Fennimore on Dec. 12, 2023 and finished his career with 1,399 points.

In Murray’s four-year career, Darlington compiled an 84-20 record with three league titles and two regional championships. 

Teammate Broker Buschor was a Division 4 all-state honorable mention selection. He was a first-team all-conference member in the SWAL, averaging 15.1 ppg with 6.4 rpg. Buschor made 54 three-pointers and was on the WIAA 3-point challenge leader board early in the season. He added 86 assists and led the team with 56 steals and 16 blocks. 

Monroe’s James Seagreaves earned honorable mention all-state in Division 2. He was named the Rock Valley-Valley Player of the Year, averaging 16.3 ppg with 7.8 rpg. Seagreaves tallied 3.8 assists per game with a team-high 23 blocks. Seagreaves concluded his three-year varsity career with 829 points 385 rebounds. 

In Seagreaves’s time on varsity, Monroe was 50-26 with Rock Valley and Badger Small Conference titles.

Monticello’s Ryer Indergand was named to the Division 5 honorable mention all-state team. He is a two-time Six Rivers East first-team all-conference player and led the league this season in scoring with 20.6 ppg. Indergand also tallied 6.3 rpg and 2.1 assists per game. His 46 steals were a team best. Indergand scored his 1,00th career point in a conference win over Albany on Feb. 16 and finished his career with 1,064 points. 

In Indergand’s three-year varsity career, Monticello compiled a 32-41 record with a Six Rivers East Conference title in the 2021-2022 season.
