Stoughton 33, Monroe 27
STOUGHTON — The Cheesemakers suffered a tough third loss to open the season in Week 3. The host Vikings had 417 yards of offense, balances between 203 through the air and another 214 on the ground.
Stoughton QB Tate Schneider was 15-for-19 passing with four TDs, and Jon Wogsland had 159 yards rushing and a TD on 27 carries.
Monroe (0-3, 0-1 Badger Small) will host Fort Atkinson (1-2, 0-1) in Week 4.
New Glarus 26, Cuba City 7
CUBA CITY — An early-season SWAL matchup paired a pair of top-10 ranked squads. No. 8 New Glarus battened down the hatches and picked up a solid win over No. 7 Cuba City in Week 3.
QB Brock Roth was 7-for-14 passing for 141 yards, a TD and an INT. He added 74 yards rushing on eight carries. Brent Weeden had five carries for 61 yards, Brady Baer added 60 yards on 13 totes, Kaden Dammen had one touch for 39 yards, and Carson Prechel had 13 rushes for 35 yards and three touchdowns. Prechel also had two catches for 71 yards and a score. Brent Weeden added two catches for 23 yards and defensively had five tackles. Gavin O’Bel led the Knights with 12 tackles. Freshman Brock Weeden had two tackles, two passes defensed and an interception.
Cubans QB Hudson Kieler had 151 yards passing on 34 passing attempts, a TD and an INT. Cuba City (2-1, 0-1) had 239 yards of offense.
Belleville 31, Cambridge 14
CAMBRIDGE — Rayden Taylor struggled passing through the air, so he took over with his legs in helping the Wildcats improve to 2-1 on the season and win the Eastern Suburban Conference opener.
Taylor was just 5 of 13 passing for 124 yards with a TD and an INT, but he had 167 yards rushing on 16 carries with two more TDs. Jackson Fahey added 60 yards on 14 carries with a TD, and Marcus Hebgen added another 40 yards rushing on five totes. The Wildcats out-gained the Blue Jays in offensive yards 391-265.
Belleville (2-1, 1-0) hosts Markesan (1-2, 1-0) in Week 4.
Darlington 27, Mineral Point 6
DARLINGTON — The Pointers gave their rival Redbirds almost all they could handle in the SWAL opener in Week 3. Entering the fourth quarter, Darlington led by just a touchdown at 13-6, but scored two unanswered TDs in the final frame to put the game away. The backbreaker was a QB draw by Zeke Zuberbuhler in the fourth that made it a two-score game.
Zuberbuhler finished the game 7-for-11 passing for 69 yards with a TD and an INT, as well as 88 yards rushing on 16 carries and the one TD. Calum Crist had 80 yards on 13 carries, and Dante Glendenning added 65 yards on seven totes, three catches for 43 yards and had two total touchdowns. Darlington amassed 300 yards of offense.
Defensively, Zuberbuhler and Crist each had an interception, with Crist returning his 20 yards for a TD. Sloan Glendenning finished with a team-high seven tackles — five solo and four for a loss. Crist had five tackles and three for a loss.
Mineral Point had 190 yards of offense, but just one score on a run by QB Liam Carey, who finished with 40 yards on 11 totes and was just 7-for-24 passing for 106 yards with an interception. Clayton Yanna had four carries for 50 yards for Mineral Point.
The top-ranked Redbirds (3-0, 1-0 SWAL) travel to eighth-ranked New Glarus (3-0, 1-0) in Week 4.
Black Hawk-Warren 58, Boscobel 0
BOSCOBEL — The Warriors rebounded from a Week 2 defeat by Illinois powerhouse Stockton and dominated Boscobel in the Six Rivers opener in Week 3.
No. 8-ranked BHW (2-1, 1-0) collected 302 yards rushing on just 21 rushing attempts, scoring seven TDs. QB Beau Podnar was 3-for-4 passing for 63 yards and a score. He added 87 rushing yards on just three carries with two touchdowns. Beau Janecke carried the ball once for a 53-yard score. Dax Paquin (5/48 yards) had a score, as did Carter Stauffacher (3/29 yards). Brody Argall had seven carries for 72 yards and two TDs. Trent Bidlingmaier had two catches for 51 yards and a TD. Joe Ketchpaw had a 12-yard catch and was the only Warrior that touched the ball on offense that did not score a touchdown.
Defensively, Brandon McCoy had an interception for BHW. Boscobel (0-3, 0-1) was held to just 78 yards of offense, which included negative-12 yards rushing on 20 attempts.
The Warriors return home in Week 4, hosting Iowa-Grant (2-1, 1-0) at Meridian Park in Warren.
Westfield 32, Parkview-Albany 12
ORFORDVILLE — The host Vikings lost QB Elijah Gunn to injury in the first quarter, and the visiting Pioneers used aerial supremacy to get out to an early lead and never look back in the Trailways opener in Week 3.
Gunn, a junior, was replaced by sophomore Connor Knutson, who gave a valiant effort in relief.
Westfield QB Maverick Patten was 12-for-17 passing for 169 yards and three scores, while running back Mason Groskreutz had 170 yards rushing and two scores. Blake Parker had six catches for 122 yards and three scores for the Pioneers, which led 26-0 at halftime.
Parkview-Albany (0-3, 0-1 Trailways) travels to Dodgeland (0-3, 0-1) in Week 4.
Iowa-Grant 42,
Pec-Argyle 12
LIVINGSTON — Martin Anderson had 52 yards rushing and 163 yards passing with two scores, but it wasn’t enough for the Vikings in Week 3. Pec-Argyle was out-gained 418-255 in offensive yardage.
Defensively, Mike Helfvogt recovered a fumble for the Vikings, while teammate Brock Erickson had an interception and 10 tackles. Dane Nysted led Pec-Argyle with 12 tackles.
The Vikings (2-1, 0-1 Six Rivers) host Wauzeka-Steuben/Seneca (1-2, 0-1) in Week 4.
Dodgeville 32, Brodhead-Juda 6
DODGEVILLE — The Dodgers dominated the ground game in Week 3, as eight runners combined for 304 yards rushing against the Cardinals in the SWC opener. Finley Olson paced Dodgeville (1-2, 1-0) with 116 yards on 11 carries, scoring twice.
Dodgers QB Karter McGraw completed just one pass on the day, which went for a 6-yard score to Blake Stodola.
Brodhead-Juda (0-3, 0-1 SWC) hosts Prairie du Chien in Week 4.
