ALBANY — The Comets continue their hot streak, as Albany defeated Pecatonica 3-1 on Monday, Sept. 25. Albany won 25-20, 25-22, 20-25, 25-21. With the win, the Comets improve to 5-2 in conference, while the Vikings fall to 6-2. Both teams are chasing No. 6-ranked Barneveld for the Six Rivers East Conference title.
Anna Ellinger and Alana Durtschi led the Comets in several statistical categories. Ellinger tallied 11 kills, three blocks, seven aces and nine digs. Durtschi, meanwhile, recorded 15 kills, five blocks and 14 digs. Ellie Modaff and Myah Johnson split the setting duties with 15 and nine assists, respectively. Johnson also served up three aces.
Mikaela Gross led the Vikings with nine kills. She and Loretta Tisch served up five aces each, while the trio of Gross, Madelyn Cleary and Bri Peterson had one block each. Loretta Tisch tallied 14 digs, while Anna Tisch had 14 assists.
BARNEVELED 3, JUDA 0
JUDA — The Eagles, ranked No. 6 in Division 4, improved to 16-2 overall and 8-0 in conference with a sweep of the Panthers on Monday, Sept. 12. Barneveld won 25-7, 25-12, 25-11. The Eagles have been ranked for the first five weeks of the season.
EAST TROY 3, MONROE 0
EAST TROY — The Cheesemakers dropped to 1-12 overall and 1-4 in conference after losing to the conference-leading Trojans on Tuesday, Sept. 26. East Troy won 25-13, 25-12, 25-11.
TURNER 3, BRODHEAD 1
BELOIT — The Cardinals drop to 4-2 in conference — and a two-way tie for second with Edgerton — following a four-set loss to the Trojans on Tuesday, Sept. 26. Turner won 16-25, 25-17, 25-20, 25-16.
Addison Yates and Brynn Riesterer recorded double-digit kills with 15 and 11, respectively. Jaelyn Hilliard distributed the offense with 28 assists. At the service line, Jerrica Schwarts and Makenna Schooff combined for five aces. Defensively, Allie Dahl dug out 21 attacks, followed by Schooff with 12. At the net, Yates had three blocks.
MARSHALL 3, NEW GLARUS 0
MARSHALL — The Knights suffered a setback on Tuesday, Sept. 26 falling to the Cardinals in three sets. Marshall won 25-18, 25-15, 25-17. With the loss, New Glarus falls to 12-10 overall and 4-3 in conference, which is tied with Belleville. Meanwhile, Marshall maintains its lead in the Capitol at 7-0.
