PRAIRIE DU CHIEN — The Brodhead-Juda Cardinals saw their season come to an end in the WIAA Division 5 playoffs in Level 3 on Nov. 5, losing to Prairie du Chien for the second time this fall. The Cardinals also made it to Level 3 in 2021.
Brodhead-Juda took a 6-0 lead in the first quarter on a 74-yard TD pass from Gabe Bockhop to Gunner Boegli, but the offense stalled after that. Prairie du Chien grabbed the lead at 7-6 in the third quarter, and a fourth quarter score made it 14-6. The Cardinals had just one first down after halftime.
Rhett Koenig had 112 rushing yards and a score for the Blackhawks, while Ty Wagner finished the night with 131 yards on 16 totes. Kurt Wall added 59 yards and a score. Prairie du Chien QB Maddox Cejka was just 2-for-11 passing for 13 yards.
Prairie du Chien moves on to the state semifinal to face Mayville at McFarland on Nov. 11. The winner of that matchup will face either Aquinas or Kewaunee in the Division 5 state title game Nov. 17 at Camp Randall Stadium in Madison.
