Lawrence L. (Larry) Ranum

Lawrence L. (Larry) Ranum, 77 of Bettendorf, IA, died Sat, Jan. 23, 2021 due to the effects of COVID 19. He was born near Belmont, WI on August 10, 1943 son of Vivian Charles & Lula Lavera (Willis) Ranum. Larry married Janet Timm of Davenport, IA in 1967. She preceded him in death in 2013. He later married Sandra Huizinga in July of 2018.

Larry retired from John Deere - Davenport works after 30 years. He was a U.S. Army veteran having served during the Viet Nam Conflict.

Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Sandra; his daughter Melissa (Rick) Zwada of Chicago; his son Brian (Tonya) Ranum of Davenport; his step-daughter Lisa Robinson of Texas; his grandchildren Reese, Chloe, Zoe, Amanda, Hannah and Caleb; siblings, Ruth (John) Flanagan of Argyle, Sandy Martin, Mary (Boone) Brenum and Tom (Inge) Ranum of Monroe, Sherry (Marvin) Rosensteil of Browntown, Sharon (Wally) Rousch of Florida, Bill (Pat) Ranum of Warren, IL and Paul (Lynne) Ranum of Shullsburg.

In addition to his 1st wife, Jan, and his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers Johnny and Pete and sisters Jean and Ula

Larry had a servant's heart. For many years he volunteered at the QC Food Bank, Habitat for Humanity, Bettendorf Parks, St. James Church and was a frequent blood donor. Those who knew Larry remember his kindness, gentle manner and unceasing selflessness. He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to St. James Lutheran Church of Bettendorf or Gilda's Club of the Quad Cities.
