Dennis M. Sorenson Sr., age 78, of South Wayne passed away peacefully in his home on December 30, 2024.  He was born on born May 6, 1946 the son of Robert (Bob) Komar and Shirley Sorenson.

Dennis spent many years at his logging business cutting and selling firewood.  Everyone that knew him knew him as the “woodman.”  He spent many years working at the Lone Pine Dairy Thoman Farm.  In his free time, he enjoyed farming, fishing, woodworking, fencing, working on vehicles, and western movies.  But the thing he enjoyed the most was spending time with his grandchildren. 

Dennis is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Joanna Sorenson; children, Dennis M. Sorenson Jr., James Sorenson, Angela Escobedo-Sorenson, Jon L. Sorenson, Genell Anderson, Melissa Eldridge, John Triem, Heidi Fahrney, and Brandon Triem; twenty grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert (Bob) Komar and Shirley Sorenson-Komar; daughter, Billy Jo Sorenson; granddaughter, Bryonna Jade Child; a dear nephew, Glen Calhoun; former-wife, Gail Grimm; as well as many loving family members; and his favorite dogs, Odie and Lady. 

A Celebration of Dennis’ Life will be held at a later date at Yellowstone Lake. Shriner Hager Gohlke Funeral Home is assisting the family.  Condolences may be sent to the family at: shgfuneralhome.net.
