MONROE - Be in the audience on Jan. 15 and 16 when the Monroe Arts Center presents the Showcase of Talent.
This annual event showcases southern Wisconsin's and northern Illinois' wealth of highly talented individuals and groups in an evening of lively family entertainment. Performances take place at 7:30 p.m. at the Monroe High School Performing Arts Center at 1600 26th St..
Emceed by Big Radio personality Dan Blum, the Showcase of Talent will be presented like a live radio variety-show broadcast, complete with vocal and instrumental musical entertainment, jokes sprinkled throughout the show, a few surprises, an on-stage house band and an exciting cast finale. Saturday night's performance is scheduled for broadcast on Big Radio.
Showcase of Talent co-directors Cindy Blanc and Peggy Miller had the opportunity to watch numerous acts during the audition session in November.
"Peggy and I are looking forward to sharing this show with the community," Blanc said. "We are sure the audience will be thoroughly entertained at this year's Showcase of Talent."
This year's performers are representing the Wisconsin cities of Brodhead, Juda, Monroe and South Wayne, as well as Freeport and Loves Park, Illinois. Scheduled performers are Dan Baldwin, Bobbie Bernet, Sarah Bodell, Jackie Ceithamer, Bruce Duemler, Anna Garry, Lori Grinnell, Jonna Heins, Al Hudson, Lavosha Jones, Kathy King, Chris Knuteson, Suzanne Koch, Bre Lambert, Lilly Lambert, Jesse Larson, Sierra McGuire, Luke Mohns, Diana Oostdik, Nataliya Patterson, Josie Picard, Mary Richardson, CJ Smith, Lara Salyer Smith, Beckett Smith, Emery Smith, Owen Smith, Nate Soderberg, Ron Spielman, Craig Tuttle, Chuck Wellington, Chris Wellington and Olivia Wiegel.
A live, on-stage house band adds to the excitement of the evening. This year's band members are Cindy Blanc (piano), Peggy Miller (keyboard), Peter Minucci (percussion), Joe Steil (upright bass) and Korey Steil (guitar).
