NEW GLARUS - No injuries were reported after a house fire caused by an unknown source in the Village of New Glarus was extinguished Thursday, March 27.
The New Glarus Police and Fire Departments are still investigating the cause of a fire at a residence in the 700 block of 12th Avenue. Two adults and a dog were safely removed from the residence. Two cats remained in the residence but were found to be OK after the fire had been dealt with.
New Glarus Police Chief Burt Boldebuck said preliminary estimates put damages to the home at about $100,000. A police officer on patrol discovered the house on fire and called in the alert. Boldebuck said investigation is ongoing and an insurance investigator may be called in.
Monticello Fire Department, Monroe Fire Department, Belleville Fire Department and Mt. Horeb Fire Department all responded along with police and deputies from Monticello and the Green County Sheriff's Department.
The New Glarus Street Department also responded to provide barricades for traffic control.
