Jean L. Hanson age 73 of Monroe, died peacefully on Saturday, September 13, 2014 at Pleasant View Nursing Home, Monroe. Jean was born January 2, 1941 in Orangeville, IL, the daughter of George Walter and Mabel Leona (Schwitz) Clark. Jean graduated from Monroe High School in 1959 and married Ralph E. Hanson on May 14, 1961 at the Adams Lutheran Church. Jean and Ralph farmed in the Argyle and Dayton Areas from 1964 until moving to New Glarus in 1972. They moved to Monroe in 1976. Jean was employed at Advance Transformer/Orchid for 29 years until retiring in 2002. She was dedicated to her family and loved attending events of her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren doing various crafts and was known for creating many floral arrangements for weddings and other events. Jean looked forward to attending the Tuesday morning coffee group at the Red Apple and spent many hours researching family genealogy.

She is survived by her husband, Ralph E. Hanson of Monroe; four children, Terry Hanson of Kenosha, Brian (Dawn Wunschel) Hanson of Juda, Brenda Miller of Monroe, and Kevin (Jenny Flick) Hanson of Sun Prairie; eight grandchildren, Tyler Hanson, Alyssa Hanson, Ryan Helmeid, Chance Helmeid, Serena Hanson, Miles Hanson, Jeanna Miller, and Jaylee Miller; her sister, Donna Douglas of Monroe; and mother-in-law, Mayme Hanson of Blanchardville. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, George W. Clark Jr.; an infant son; brother-in-law, Walter Douglas; father-in-law, Myron Hanson; sister-in-law, Darlene Hanson; and brother-in-law, Bruce Hanson.

A celebration of Jean's life will be held on Saturday, October 4, 2014, from 1:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at the Juda Community Center, N2350 County Road S, Juda. Memorials are suggested in Jean's name to the Monroe Woman's Club, "Christmas Stocking Fund" or Family Promise of Green County. The Newcomer Funeral Home, Monroe, is assisting the family.
