WASHINGTON, D.C. — Monroe Clinic has been recognized as a Best Hospital for 2018-19 by U.S. News & World Report.

Wes Speer, Monroe Clinic director of orthopedic services, explained that experienced surgeons, nurses, physical therapists and even volunteers work together to achieve results that allow knee replacement patients to get up and moving the same day as surgery. Speer was quick to point out that while the U.S. News & World Report recognition focused on Monroe Clinic’s knee replacement procedure — the team has high-achievement results in fracture care, minor hand and foot procedures, knee and shoulder arthroscopy, as well as hip, anterior hip and shoulder replacement procedures.

For the 2018-19 rankings, U.S. News evaluated more than 4,500 medical centers nationwide in 25 specialties, procedures and conditions. The U.S. News Best Hospitals methodologies in most areas of care are based largely or entirely on objective measures such as risk-adjusted survival and readmission rates, volume, patient experience, patient safety and quality of nursing, among other care-related indicators.

The rankings will be published in the U.S. News “Best Hospitals 2019” guidebook. For more information, visit monroeclinic.org/USNews.
