MONROE - Green County 4-H is not just about fair projects and ribbons: It also is about coming together as a 4-H club family to give back to the community. The Next Generation 4-H Club did just that recently at the Monroe Clinic/Hospital when members presented volunteer services coordinator Dawn Meier with knitted baby caps, fleece blankets and a New Year's baby gift basket.
This is the second year that the club has done this as a community service project.
Community service is a large part of the club's educational agenda. Club members completed 22 community service projects in 2016 ranging from cleaning parks and highways to making caps and blankets to cooking and serving a free meal for more than 100 people.
As one of the 18 4-H clubs in the county, the Next Generation strives to teach its members that no act of kindness, however small, is ever wasted and that the joy received from knowing that one has made a positive impact on someone's life is priceless.
Club members who helped were Bella Andrews, Brandon Straws, Aleczander Johnson, Elli Andrews, Abbi Andrews, Jackie Nusbaum, Brooke Hanson, Miah Roth, Katie Nusbaum, Ayden Bergemann, Shad Hanson, Kelsi Mueller and Brooke Rowe.
