MONROE - The Green County Ag Chest, sponsor of the county's Dairy Queen program, will be holding a mandatory informational meeting at 7 p.m. Monday at the Green County Extension Office/Justice Center, 2841 6th St., for all girls interested in applying to become a Dairy Queen candidate.
Applicants must be a sophomore, junior or senior in high school during the 2014-15 school year. Interviews for all community dairy queens will take place at the Extension Office/Justice Center on Saturday, May 17. Selection of Green County's Dairy Queen and Princess, from among the 11 community Dairy Queens, will take place in Brooklyn on Friday, June 20.
The announcement of the queen and princess ends the Dairy Day activities, hosted this year by the community of Brooklyn. Other activities include the Dairy Day Cattle Show, which will take place at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 21 at the Green County Fairgrounds; the Queen's Banquet, set for Saturday, June 11 at the Brooklyn Community Center; starting with Moo Tails at 6:30 p.m.; and the Dairy Day Parade, which is set for 11 a.m. Sunday, June 22 in Brooklyn. The County Dairy Queen and Princess crowning and a tractor pull will immediately follow the parade.
