Warriors roll past Comets, Knights win

ALBANY - The Black Hawk girls basketball team is clicking on all cylinders and rolled to a 60-22 win over Albany Saturday.

"I think we are playing really well right now," Black Hawk coach Mike Flanagan said. "The kids are focused. We are focused on trying to secure a conference championship. It's another game in that direction."

Black Hawk (18-0, 9-0 Six Rivers East) raced out to a 19-5 lead in the first quarter. The Warriors led 35-7 at halftime.

"We were pretty effective in our pressure early on," Flanagan said. "We caused some turnovers and that led to some easy scoring opportunities."

Black Hawk junior Kayla Meier scored 17 points to lead the Warriors. Black Hawk senior Rachel Rygh scored 12 points and junior Kate Quinn chipped in 10.

The Warriors, ranked No. 2 in the Associated Press Division 5 poll, host Argyle in a conference game Tuesday.

New Glarus 47, Watertown Luther Prep 39

NEW GLARUS - The New Glarus girls basketball team used a second quarter surge to hang on for the win.

The Glarner Knights outscored Luther Prep 15-4 in the second quarter en route to a 21-11 halftime lead.

New Glarus senior Chelsea Holler scored 16 points and made two 3-pointers. New Glarus junior Alycia Atwell added 12.
