ORFORDVILLE — The Trailways South, Capitol South and Rock Valley Conferences announced their All-Conference wrestling selections and Wes Egan of Parkview-Albany and Blake Endres of Sugar River were named Wrestlers of the Year.
Egan (220), a sophomore, compiled a 48-5 record winning all his dual matches. He set numerous school records including most wins (48), pins (29) and major decisions (5). This year he led the team in wins, pins and points. He took first in the Holiduals, Mount Horeb Tournament, Polo Invitational, Ithaca-Weston Invite, Monroe Tournament, Conference Tournament and Sectionals. He finished second at the Warbird Invite and Regionals. Egan’s sophomore season culminated in a sixth-place state finish.
Endres (113), a sophomore, compiled a 45-11 record with 19 pins, seven major decisions and three technical falls. His only losses were to state qualifiers: Aidan Gruenenfelder (Division 3 113 runner up), Charlie Meudt (Division 2 113 champion), Wyatt Skebba (Division 1 113 champion), Wyatt Magolski (Division 2 113 fourth place), Tommy Brown (Division 2 113 third place) and Ethan Aird (Division 2 113 runner up). Endres took first in the Capitol Conference Tournament and Wisconsin Dells Invitational. He finished second at Sectionals, Regionals, the Sauk Prairie Eagle Invitational, Badger State Invitational and Raider Scramble. Endres concluded his sophomore season with a fifth-place finish at state.
Eli Leonard (152), who also finished fifth at state, received Second-Team All-Conference honors. He took first in regionals and sectionals, as well as the Wisconsin Dells Invitational, Sauk Prairie Eagle Invite and the Raider Scramble. In the Capitol Conference Tournament, Leonard took second to eventual Division 2 152-pound state champion Zane Licht. Brennan Keyes (132), also made the second team with a 21-11 record.
Teammates Ashlin Mihlbauer (120), Ryker Swenson (160), Alex Zielinski (170), Carson Loshaw (195), Garrett Pauli (220) and Isaac Erb (285) received honorable mention recognition.
In the Rock Valley Conference, Joe Lohmar (138) and Marcus McIntyre (145) led Brodhead-Juda as First-Team All-Conference selections.
McIntyre compiled a 44-5 record with 24 pins, four major decisions and three tech falls. He took first in the Creek Classic, Raider Scramble, Lancaster Invite, Rick Lawinger Invitational and Rock Valley Conference Tournamet. In the postseason, McIntyre took second at Regionals to Monroe’s Jack Dubach. He then took first in sectionals — avenging his regional loss to Dubach — to qualify for state. There, McIntyre lost his opening match.
Lohmar took first in the Rock Valley Conference Tournament. In the postseason, he took second at Regionals and Sectionals, falling to Owen Seffrood of Darlington-Black Hawk both times. At state, Lohmar lost his opening match.
Teammates CJ Streuly (195) and Emmitt Allen (220) made the All-Conference Second-Team.
