UWP indoor meet sees big returns

PLATTEVILLE — A slew of area track and field athletes took part in the indoor Pioneer High School Meet March 26 at UW-Platteville’s Williams Fieldhouse.

On the boy’s side, Monroe senior Jordan Montgomery took first place in the 55-meter dash (6.65 seconds) and the 200 dash (24.05). Freshman teammate Lucas Flom was third (6.99) in the 55 dash. Montgomery was also third in the long jump (18-feet, 9.0-inches)

Monroe’s Jake Brower was third (56.96) in the 400 dash. In the 800, Darlington’s Tucker Lange was second (2:11.86) and Trae Schilling third (2:16.15), while Brower was fourth (2:16.63).

Senior Kyle Legler of Monroe was first in the 1,600 (4:48.04), while junior teammate Dylan Fahrney was second (4:55.45). Darlington senior Payton Heinberg won the 3,200 (11:06.30), while Monroe sophomore Alex Henry was second (11:16.97). Pecatonica-Argyle senior Jaden Hendrickson was third in the 55-hurdles (8.76).

Darlington won the 800-relay event (4:42.10), while Pecatonica-Argyle was third (1:43.79). The Redbirds were third in the 1,600-relay (3:58.13) and second in the 3,200-relay (8:59.10). Monroe was third in the 3,200-relay (9:13.42).

On the girl’s side, Darlington senior Kathleen Mathias was first in the 200-dash (27.67), and fellow senior Ilse Mendez was first in the 3,200 (12:42.16). Freshman teammate Judith Meister was second in the 1,600 (6:10.45). Junior Lizzie Schwartz was first in the 55-hurdles (9.97), while Sugar River junior Emily Bartow was third (10.20). Mathias was also second in the long jump (14-06).

Darlington took second in the 800-relay (1:57.90) and third in the 1,600-relay (4:43.06).

Monroe freshmen Alyssa Roelli was second in the 800 (2:40.38). Pecatonica-Argyle junior Addisyn Noble won the high jump (4-10.0). Darlington junior Marissa Gould won the shot put (35-03), while Monroe junior Chloe Bunker was third (34-10) and sophomore teammate Riley Hartwig was fourth (32-03).
