The Six Rivers Conference has been top-heavy this season. Two weeks ago, five teams were tied for first place at 3-1 in league play. Since then, Riverdale has lost twice, and BHW has been knocked down a peg. Heading into the final week of the regular season, River Ridge (7-1, 5-1), Iowa-Grant (6-2, 5-1) and PC (6-2, 5-1) are all tied for the league lead. BHW will host fifth-ranked River Ridge in Week 9. Iowa-Grant gets Seneca/Wauzeka-Steuben (1-6, 1-5), while PC will travel to Riverdale (4-4, 3-3).

River Ridge 57, Pecatonica/Argyle 14

PATCH GROVE — The Vikings kept things close with the fifth-ranked Timberwolves in the first half. Pec/Argyle even got on the board first — a 46-yard TD run by Bo Stateler. Braydon Slater later caught a 31-yard TD pass from Martin Anderson with 9:07 left in the second quarter to keep the score even at 14-14. The Wolves went into halftime leading 20-14.

The second half, however, was a completely different story. River Ridge scored five unanswered touchdowns — including a 99-yard TD run with a minute to play by Luke Wehrle — to route the Vikings.

Anderson ended the game with 174 passing yards, 15 rushing yards and two INTs. Stateler’s lone TD run made him the team-leader in rushing yards, with Brock Erickson second with 39 yards on six carries. Luke Leonard had 88 yards on nine catches, and Slater had 53 yards on three receptions.

River Ridge collected 348 yards rushing on 39 attempts (8.9 ypc) and added another 114 passing yards. QB Blake Reynolds threw two TD passes and rushed for three more with 105 yards total on the ground.

The Vikings (2-6, 2-4) need a win in Week 9 over Deerfield (1-7, 1-5) to have a chance at a postseason berth.
