MNG finishes 3rd at UW-Platteville invite

PLATTEVILLE — Monroe-New Glarus collected 391 points en route to its thirdplace finish at Platteville on Saturday, Oct. 22. Sauk Prairie won the meet with 458 points, while Brinlee Chapman and Delaney Lynch set personal records to pace the Cheesemakers.

Chapman swam the 200-yard freestyle in 2:40.77 (15th). Her sister Megan took first in the event with a time of 2:05.04.

Lynch’s PR came in the 100-yard butterfly with her time of 1:03.72 (4th). Anna Zentner finished after her with a time of 1:06.92 (5th).

Zentner had an individual second-place finish in the 100-yard IM with her time of 1:08.08. In relays — 200-yard (1:49.08) and 400-yard freestyle (3:57.72) — she aided her teammates Megan Chapman, Lynch and Riley Hoesly to third-place finishes.

The 200-yard medley relay team of Amelia Geib, Piper Faber, Maggie Piper and Hoesly took third (2:07.47).

Individually, Geib finished second in the 100-yard backstroke (1:07.61), and Hoesly completed the 50-yard freestyle in 27.18 (3rd).

Piper stepped up with two top-four individual finishes: 100-yard breaststroke (1:23.23, 3rd) and 200-yard IM (2:40.10, 4th).

Megan Chapman and Lynch nabbed backto- back finishes in the 500-yard freestyle for Monroe-New Glarus. Megan Chapman took second (5:35.56), while Lynch captured third (5:51.71).

The Cheesemakers head to Baraboo on Saturday, Oct. 29 for the conference meet before the WIAA sectional in Sauk Prairie on Saturday, Nov. 5.
