To the Editor:
Billionaires are bankrolling the Republican candidates in Wisconsin’s elections this November — and that’s only the money that can actually be tracked. Millions more in dark money is fueling campaigns. Wisconsinites have spurned big money in our elections before — remember Elon Musk’s millions to try to buy a Wisconsin Supreme Court seat? Let’s do it again.
Most of us complain about all the money spent on political campaigns and how that money could be put to more beneficial use. Don’t let the billionaires and millionaires buy your vote! Don’t be swayed by their ads. Make sure you know who is on your ballot. Find out what they really stand for and how they’ve actually voted in the past if they are an incumbent. Take the opportunity to meet them and talk to them, and talk to trusted family and friends about who they are voting for and why.
At the top of the ticket, I’m voting for David Crowley for Governor, Jenna Jacobson for State Senate and Ben Gruber for State Assembly. I have met and talked with all these candidates and I know them to be people who understand the struggles of working families. They want to protect the most vulnerable in our society. They believe in strong public schools, expanding healthcare for everyone, and protecting the environment. They will listen to us, debate with us and stand up for us and protect our rights.
