WASB

Recognize these passionate public servants from Oct. 4-10.

Wisconsin’s public school students are supported by dedicated public servants who advocate for their best interests. Join us in recognizing these passionate locally elected leaders during Wisconsin School Board Week from Oct. 4-10.

“I’ve had the privilege of meeting dedicated school board members in every corner of our state,” said WASB President Sandie Anderson in a personalized message from the WASB Board of Directors. “I see your commitment, compassion and inspiring leadership every day.”

Gov. Tony Evers commended this influence in his Wisconsin School Board Week proclamation, recognizing the important role school board members “play as advocates for public education and as essential partners in the state’s efforts to ensure that every kid in Wisconsin has access to a high-quality public education.”

This ensures that the next generation of Wisconsinites develops into successful professionals, leaders and citizens. It’s a task that school board members don’t take lightly while overseeing budgets, advocating for children, evaluating superintendents and setting the course for their districts.

“Month after month, school board members show up with open hearts and open minds to listen, learn and lead,” WASB Second Vice President Larry Dux says. “They serve as trusted voices for your community, championing local public schools and standing up as dedicated advocates for students.”

More than 2,800 school board members across Wisconsin’s 421 districts make those tough choices while being accountable to taxpayers. To ensure they’re making the best choice for their community, they devote countless hours to studying issues and participating in professional development.
