MONROE — The Cheesemakers are off to a hot start with a 3-1 win over Dodgeville-Mineral Point on Thursday, Aug. 29. Last season, Monroe (1-0-1) had just two wins and two ties.
“I’m super proud of the way the team is stepping up to the plate,” Monroe head coach Matt Coplien said. “It’s a great start in the first two games. The boys had a chip on their shoulder from last year, and they are working to right that ship. So far, we are heading in the right direction.”
Monroe received goals from Brock Brandli, Reece McIntosch and Hudson Davis. Goalkeeper Nate Richardson made eight saves.
In other local boys soccer, Sugar River, defending Division 3 champions, fell to Fort Atkinson 2-0.
