PLATTEVILLE — Albany’s boys cross country team won the small school division at Dick McKichan Platteville Invitational Oct. 2 at UW-Platteville’s Veterans Memorial Park. Meanwhile, the girls team was second in the small race. New Glarus-Monticello took second place as a team in both large school divisions.
Dodgeville-Mineral Point won the boys large school title, while Monroe was seventh and Brodhead-Juda 16th. In the small schools boys race, Darlington was second and Belleville fourth.
On the girls side, DMP also took first in the large school standings. Monroe was seventh and Brodhead-Juda 14th. Lancaster won the small school race in a tiebreaker with Albany, while Darlington was third and Belleville fifth.
Both divisions ran at the same time and points were separated based on time, place and school size.
In the girls race, Southwestern-CC-Benton senior Kayci Martensen won with a time of 17:58.5. Darlington’s Raquel Reuter (19:43.7 was fifth overall and teammate Judith Meister (20:41.1) was 19th. New Glarus-Monticello’s Lily Maynard (20:12.9) was 13th. Monroe’s Sierra McGuire (20:50.8) and Jadyn Elgin (20:53.1) finished 20th and 21st overall.
On the boys side, Sauk Prairie’s Jack Boerger won with a time of 16:00.9. Belleville’s Carter Scholey was third (16:39.0). NGM’s Evan Guenther (16:55.1) was fifth, and Tom Nelson (17:05.6) was eighth. Monroe’s Lucas Sathoff (17:18.2) was 14th overall, with Darlington’s Rhett Reuter (17:32.5) 19th and Albany’s Gage Roth (17:33.0) 20th.
