Ruby L. Phillips, age 90, of Monroe, passed away on Saturday, March 12, 2022 at SSM Health Hospice Home. She was born on December 23, 1931 in Martintown, WI, the daughter of Bernard and Margaret (Mahlkuch) Pickett. She attended Woodford Grade School and graduated from Monroe High School in 1950. Ruby married her husband of 63 years, Gene W. Phillips on October 7, 1950 at Peace Church Parsonage in Browntown, WI.
While attending school, Ruby worked part-time at The Snack Bar, The Grill, and Corner Café. Ruby worked at Swiss Colony for 20 years, retiring in 1992. She enjoyed attending her grandchildren’s sporting events and spending time with her great-grandchildren. Ruby also enjoyed gardening, especially flowers, sewing and making quilts, baking and decorating birthday cakes, and fishing. She cherished her monthly card game with her brothers and sisters.
She is survived by her 5 children, Wendell (Sally), Monroe, WI, Curtis, Monroe, WI, Stacey (Reyne), Browntown, WI, Bradley (Laurie), Juda, WI, and Shelly (Samuel) Pattinson, Sugar Grove, IL; 8 grandchildren: Amy Schultz, Eric Phillips, Adrian Crow, Ashley Barradas, Jason Phillips, Lindsy Duane, Seth Pattinson, and Emily Tannhauser; and 17 great-grandchildren; brothers, Stanley and Gary Pickett, sisters, Delores Hixon, Karen Nyman, Joan Lovelace, and Janet Minder; many cousins, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Gene in 2013; brothers, Dean, Glenn, Franklin and Homer Pickett, and a special aunt, Yvonne La Sure (Pickett).
Funeral Services will be held at the SHRINER HAGER GOHLKE Funeral Home in Monroe, on Friday, March 18, 2022 at 11:00 AM. Burial will take place at the Greenwood Cemetery in Monroe, WI following the service.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 17, 2022 at Shriner Hager-Gohlke Funeral Home from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM with continued visitation on Friday from 10:00 AM until the time of the service.
