Bruce B. Helland, age 93, of the Quarryville Presbyterian Retirement Community, passed away at home on Tuesday, April 13, 2021. 

He was the husband of the late Delna E. Goertzen Helland, who passed away on May 15, 2007. He was born in Brodhead, WI, son of the late Leonard and Leona Gingrich Helland. He was a member of Oak Hill Fellowship Church of Strasburg. He was a veteran of the Navy, serving from 1952-55. He graduated from Juda High School in Juda, WI, and from Moody Bible Institute and Trinity College in Chicago, IL. He and his wife served as missionaries with TEAM in Nagano, Japan until retiring in 1992. 

After the passing of his wife, Bruce returned to Shikoku, Japan and served four more years during his 80s. He enjoyed family, reading and studying the Bible, woodworking, gardening, watching tennis, playing chess and riding his bicycle, which he did until he was 91. He enjoyed volunteering and serving at the Quarryville Community. 

He is survived by two daughters:  Brenda K. wife of Keith L. Seat of Silver Spring, MD, Sharon E. wife of Eric E. Nothman of Bethesda, MD, and four grandchildren: Marian Seat wife of Chris Mulligan, Lauren wife of Jeffrey Moller-Seat, Kailey & Noah Nothman. 

He was preceded in death by four siblings: Duane & Gordon Helland, Rachel Buhlman and Judy Maxted. 

A virtual memorial service will be held on Zoom at 7:30 pm on May 14th and a graveside service will be held at 11:30 am on May 15th at the Quarryville Cemetery; for more information email BruceHellandFuneral@gmail.com.
