NEW GLARUS — Woodford State Bank recently announced one of nine new members of the New Glarus Cow Parade: Penny the cow.
Affectionately nicknamed, ‘Pretty Penny’, her design was born of an idea to unite both Woodford State Bank’s mission to serve its local communities and the Swiss heritage that is the cornerstone of New Glarus. One side includes one of the most recognizable skylines in the village, First Street. The design starts with the New Glarus Hotel outline on the far left and concludes with the Swiss United Church of Christ on the far right. On the opposite side is dedicated space to the Swiss National Flower, Edelweiss.
Woodford State Bank thanked those who helped bring the vision to reality: Bekah Stauffacher and Annie O’Connor with the New Glarus Chamber of Commerce, who answered any and all questions with care and gave wonderful advice; Erik Foster and his team at Art & Soul Tattoo and Gallery for all their time, patience, and artistic talent, who were able to take conversations and ideas and turn them into actual art; and to Josh D. Landscaping for building a flower box and platform for Penny to reside, despite an extremely fast turnaround.
Woodford State Bank employees hosted several members from the Chamber of Commerce at the grand unveiling, as well as the team from Art & Soul, and members from other branches of Woodford State Bank. A reception for those in attendance was held at the branch where hot coffee and pastries were provided by Trouvaille Coffee.
