MONROE — An 81-year-old Illinois woman was injured after her car left the road and rolled on its side during the afternoon commute on May 11.
According to reports, the call came in at just after 4:35 p.m.
“Deputies along with Monroe Rural Fire Department and Green County EMS responded to the N1900 block of State Highway 69, in the Town of Clarno for a single vehicle roll over crash,” said the Green County Sheriff’s Office in a press release. “Investigation revealed that a vehicle operated by Carolyn S. Graham, 81 of Cedarville was traveling southbound when she lost control of the vehicle. The vehicle then entered the west ditch and rolled.”
Traffic was heavy and a number of bystanders were quickly on scene and tried to help the woman. But she remained in the vehicle until emergency crews were able to help her.
Police said Graham sustained injuries characterized as non-life-threatening and was transported to an area hospital for treatment. She reported wearing her seatbelt, and the airbags in her car did not deploy. The vehicle sustained “disabling damage,” however, and was towed from the scene.
