Public meeting set for farm expansion

BRODHEAD - The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources will hold a meeting Aug. 4 about a proposed expansion project at Larson Acres, 17162 County B, Brodhead.

The meeting is scheduled from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 4, at the Evansville High School auditorium, 640 S. 5th St; an open house is also scheduled Aug. 4 from 5 to 6 p.m. followed by an informal presentation and public comments.

Larson Acres is a 2,668 animal dairy farm located at 18218 W. Highway 59 in Evansville, and a heifer facility at 17162 County B, Brodhead.

The dairy plans to add new buildings, 2,607 animals and install a wastewater treatment facility at the Evansville location.

The plan requires the DNR to review and approve the plans and specifications as well as review an application to issue an existing Wisconsin Pollution Discharge Elimination System permit.

An environmental assessment must also be done.
