MONROE - The Monroe Arts Center will host the "Back To The Country Revue" at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 12 at the MAC, 1315 11th St.
Reserved seat tickets for "Back To The Country Revue" are $25 and $20 for adults, and $10 for students 18 years of age and under.
This show features three acts, Bill and Bobbie Malone, Richard Wiegel, and The Kristy Larson Honky Tonk Trio, and will feature country music historian and storyteller Bill Malone.
The audience will hear songs from favorite country artists like Jimmie Rodgers, Hank Williams, The Carter Family, Merle Travis, Bob Will and Patsy Cline.
Bill Malone is an American historian specializing in country music and other forms of traditional American music. He is the author of the 1968 book, "Country Music U.S.A.," an academic history of country music. In 2008, he received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Society for American Music. Malone is professor emeritus of History at Tulane University and the host of the weekly radio show "Back to the Country" on WORT-FM.
Wiegel performs guitar styles ranging from the traditional country and western to rockabilly, ragtime, and swing. His style follows in the tradition of guitar greats Merle Travis, Chet Atkins, Doc Watson, and Mississippi John Hurt. Wiegel is also a member of the Madison roots rock ensemble, The Midwesterners.
Larson has been a part of Madison's country music scene for more than two decades. In 2009, she won Madison Area Music Awards (MAMA) for Country Album and Country Performance of the Year. Larson performs along with multi-instrumentalist and singer, Mark Roeder, and bassist Steve Kasprzak.
