MONROE - The Green County Child Advocacy Center, part of Green County Human Services, will host Harlem Ambassadors - a traveling basketball team known for their "dazzling ball-handling, hilarious comedy routine and high-flying slam dunks" - at 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 7, at the Monroe High School, with doors opening at 2 p.m.
The Ambassadors cater to small communities for fundraising opportunities, embracing the opportunity to interact with the crowd. They will be playing against a team comprised of Green County community members, including law enforcement, teachers, medical professionals, employees of the Department of Corrections, as well as a local judge. Proceeds raised from the event will be used to fund new space and remodeling needs at the center, in addition to upgrading equipment and furnishings.
Advance discounted tickets are on sale at Heartland Graphics, Monroe; Fuzzy's Audio & Video, Monroe; Culvers of New Glarus; Pinnow Pharmacy, Brodhead; Monticello Village Hall; and Albany Village Hall. Tickets can also be purchased at the district attorney's office located at the Green County Justice Center from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, as well as at Green County Human Services located at the Pleasant View complex from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Advance ticket prices are $9 for adults, $7 for students, and seniors (+65) and children 4 and under are free. They will be available through Oct. 5. Ticket prices at the door will be $11 for adults and $9 for students and seniors.
The Green County Child Advocacy Center was founded in Green County in 2007, and is located in donated space at the Monroe Clinic. The Center is a local service provided for children and families in Green County, and surrounding communities. Through an investigative approach involving a team of personnel from law enforcement, human services, prosecutors, and advocates trained in victim rights, sexual assault, and domestic abuse, the Green County Child Advocacy Center uses forensically trained interviewers to obtain useful and reliable information from children who have been abused or neglected while minimizing the emotional trauma to the children and their families.
