Verna Joan (Schumaker) Simpson

BELVIDERE, Ill. - Verna Joan (Schumaker) Simpson of Belvidere, went home to the Lord, Thursday, December 26, 2013. She was born May 31, 1930, in Kirkland, IL, to Vernell and Dorothy Schumaker. Verna graduated from Belvidere High School in 1949. She married Henry Bruce Simpson on August 2, 1949. Verna was a long time cake decorator at Swiss Colony in Monroe, WI. She enjoyed farming, gardening, cooking, reading, and sewing. Her greatest joy was spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She is survived by daughters, Kathy (Robert) Razim and Carolyn (Kirk Wilken) Simpson; sons, Daniel (Barbara) Simpson and Dr. Thomas (Jeanne) Simpson; grandchildren, Nicole (Randy) Beran-Salzman, Christina Simpson, Michael Razim, Rachel Simpson, Carissa Simpson, Kaitlyn Simpson, Emilee Simpson, and Josie Simpson; great-grandchildren, Hannah Beran and Jacob Salzman; and brothers, Donald Schumaker and Gerald Schumaker. She is preceded in death by her parents; sister, Doris Schumaker; and brother, Clifford Schumaker. The funeral service will be held Monday, December 30, 2013 at 11:00 AM at the Belvidere Funeral Home. There will be a one hour visitation before the service beginning at 10:00 AM.
