BRODHEAD - Suzanne E. (Dunwiddie) Sturdevant, age 57 of Brodhead, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her family on July 2, 2009 after a courageous battle with cancer. Suzanne was born on November 4, 1951 to Roger and Betty Dunwiddie of Juda. Suzanne was the second eldest of 8 children and spent her childhood riding and showing her pony, going on trail rides and keeping her brothers and sisters in line. Suzanne was Juda's first prom princess when she was in 1st grade and graduated from Juda High School in 1969.
After high school, Suzanne was employed at Zimbrick Buick of Madison where she met her husband Warren. On August 30, 1975 Suzanne and Warren were married in Juda at the Zion United Methodist Church. Suzanne and Warren have enjoyed almost 34 happy years and were blessed with two wonderful children. A son, Jeff of Madison, who is a Sergeant for the New Glarus Police Department and a daughter, Katie of Monticello, who is a dental hygienist for First Choice Dental, Fitchburg. Suzanne was most recently employed at WEA Trust Insurance Company of Madison in the eligibility department.
Suzanne, Warren, Jeff and Katie as a family spent many weekends at their summer residence at Pride of America campground, Portage. It has been here that so many memories for all of Suzanne's family have occurred. Many laughs and good times have been shared with Suzanne. Suzanne enjoyed spending time with her family and also would spend time crocheting, watching old westerns and trips to Dubuque. Suzanne had a big heart for animals.
We have lost a person who represented so many roles that cannot be replaced nor will be forgotten; a mother, wife, daughter, big sister, aunt and friend. She touched so many of us in different ways.
Survivors include husband, Warren; son, Jeff and daughter Katie (Aaron Homb); mother, Betty Dunwiddie; brothers, Dan (Sue Homb) and Steve (Karen) Dunwiddie; sisters, Gail Johnson, Tamie (Brian Kundert) Pfeuti, Patti (Doug Jones) Dunwiddie; uncle, Lyle Hilliard; aunts, Mary Alice Hinkel and Joyce Richardson; also several nephews, nieces and cousins. Suzanne is predeceased by her father, Roger Dunwiddie; brothers, Jeffrey in infancy and Mike Dunwiddie; grandparents Glenn and Mabel Dunwiddie; Shirl and Hazel Hilliard and her dog Bucky.
