Janis Lynn (Kline) Rosenstiel, age 70 of Monroe, a mother, sister, daughter and friend passed from this life on Thursday, June 15, 2017 at University Hospital in Madison from heart failure.
Janis was born on February 16, 1947 in Monroe, the daughter of Harold and Ida (Roth) Kline. She attended school in Monroe, beginning with the old North School and ending with graduation from Monroe High School in 1965. It was her mother's dream that Janis be the first one in the family to have a college education and Janis went on to complete her degree and graduate from U.W. Whitewater in 1969. Janis married Delbert Rosenstiel on February 6, 1972 and became the loving mother of two sons, Daniel Dean and Darin Delbert Rosenstiel. The boys were the love of her life and she was devoted to their care.
Janis was a long time member of St. John's United Church of Christ. She enjoyed a long association with the Girl Scouts where many long time friendships were made. One of her best jobs was working as a life guard at the Monroe pool and teaching swimming lessons. She was always amazed how many of her students remembered her in later years. She loved the job and the kids that came to the pool and was an excellent swimmer herself. Janis always seemed to gravitate to working with children and she spent many years as a teaching assistant at the Monroe Middle School. She was an avid reader and lived in a house filled with the books she loved. In later years she learned to crochet and enjoyed making gifts for friends and selling crocheted items at craft shows. She was proud of her active involvement with various Cheese Days committees throughout the years. Out of all her accomplishments, her biggest love was for her family and friends.
Janis is survived by her son Dan (Kari) Rosenstiel, a very special Grandson, Ethan Rosenstiel, and a sister, Jocelyn Kline, all of Monroe; nieces Kelley Kline of Hartland and Shannon Stricker of Houston, Texas and many other close relatives. She is further survived by special childhood friends Shirley Meng and Bonnie Sauey; and a loyal kitty friend, Harley. Janis is predeceased by a son, Darin; parents Ida and Harold Kline; and a brother Harold "Jim" Kline.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 20, 2017, at 11:00 a.m., at St. John's United Church of Christ, with Pastor Kathleen Rinear officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery, Monroe. Visitation will be at the church on Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Green County Humane Society. The Newcomer Funeral Home, Monroe, is assisting the family. Condolences may be shared at www.newcomerfuneralhome.net.
Janis had much integrity, a strong will and a heart of gold. We will always remember her this way. We love her very much and will miss her greatly.
