Gene W. Phillips age 83 of Monroe, Wisconsin died Monday, October 21, 2013 at his home. He was born August 11, 1930 at Jordan Center, Wisconsin the son of Leland and Emma (Clark) Phillips and attended Monroe High School.

Gene married Ruby Pickett on October 7, 1950 at Peace United Church of Christ in Browntown, WI. Gene worked at Capital Cheese, Triangle Cheese, Pre Pak, Swiss Colony, was a Crossing Guard at Northside School for 14 years, and was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ in Monroe. Surviving are his wife, Ruby Phillips of Monroe; sons, Wendell (Sally) Phillips of Marshfield, WI, Curtis Phillips of Monroe, WI, Stacey (Reyne) Phillips of Browntown, WI, and Bradley (Laurie) Phillips of Juda, WI; daughter, Shelly (Sam) Pattinson of Sugar Grove, IL; brother, Glen (Lauretta) Phillips of Orangeville, IL; 8 grandchildren, Eric Phillips, Amy (Nick) Schultz, Adrian Phillips, Ashley Phillips, Jason (Ashley) Phillips, Lindsy Phillips, Seth Pattinson, and Emily (Andrew) Tannhauser; and 7 great-grandchildren, Logan, Braeden, Memphis, Itzela, Yadira, Sawyer, and Ashlynn. He was predeceased by his parents; brothers, Charles, Wilbert, Alvie, Ray, and Ernie; and sisters, Nora and Grace.

Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. Thursday October 24, 2013 at Shriner-Hager-Gohlke Funeral Home 1455 Mansion Drive & N. 18th Avenue in Monroe.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M. Friday, October 25, 2013 at the Funeral Home with Rev. Tiff Bates officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery in Monroe.

A Memorial Fund is being established in Gene's memory.
