Police Blotter

On August 9:

● 4:27 p.m. Darlington Fire and Lafayette County EMS responded to Buena Vista DR in the City for a two vehicle accident. Darlington Police assisted.

● 5:26 p.m. Deputies responded to CTH X, Elk Grove Township for a theft.

● 5:37 p.m. Shullsburg Fire and EMS responded to CTH E, Shullsburg Township for a shed fire.

On August 11:

● 7:38 a.m. Kimberly A Moellers, 34, Argyle reported striking a deer on STH 78, Argyle Township. No injuries were reported and Moellers’s 2021 Chevrolet received moderate damage and was driven from the scene.

● 5:56 p.m. Deputies responded to Phillip LN, Benton Township for a motorcycle accident. Francis R Carlborg, 29, Hazel Green was traveling eastbound on a 2010 Harley when he failed to have control of the motorcycle and went into the ditch. Carlborg was not wearing a helmet and was thrown from the motorcycle. Carlborg was transported to Mercy Hospital and later flown to Iowa City with a head injury. Carlborg’s motorcycle was towed from the scene with disabling damage. Benton Fire and First and Hazel Green EMS assisted. Carlborg was cited for Failure to Maintain Control

● 10:40 p.m. Deputies responded to E Grove ST in the Village of South Wayne for threats.

On August 12:

● 7:40 a.m. A deputy responded to STH 11, Gratiot Township for a one vehicle accident.

● 4:08 p.m. Darlington Fire and Lafayette County EMS and deputies responded to STH 23, Darlington Township for a truck fire.

● 4:25 p.m. A deputy responded to STH 81, Lamont Township for a theft.

On August 13

● 9:31 a.m. Shullsburg Fire and EMS responded to W Estey ST in the City for a gas leak. Benton Police and a deputy assisted. 

● 2:47 p.m. A deputy responded to CTH X, Elk Grove Township for a civil dispute. 

● 4:58 p.m. A deputy responded to CTH M, Wiota Township for a threatening complaint. 

● 6:22 p.m. Brandon S. Burleigh, 35, Shullsburg was traveling on W Mound RD, Belmont Township when he lost control of his 2008 Kawasaki, crossed the center line and struck an oncoming vehicle driven by Stephen C. Craven, 72, Platteville. Craven and his passenger denied injuries. Burleigh sustained minor injuries but refused EMS. Craven’s 2022 Lexus sustained minor damage and was driven from the scene, whereas, Burleigh’s 2008 Kawasaki sustained disabling damage and was towed from the scene. Southwest Health EMS, Platteville Fire, Belmont Police and Grant County Sheriff’s Office assisted. Burleigh was cited for Failure to Maintain Control and Operating without a Valid Motorcycle Endorsement. 

On August 14:

● 12:55 p.m. Deputies responded to S Galena ST in the Village of South Wayne for disorderly conduct. Dennis M Komar, JR, 53, South Wayne was arrested for Battery, Disorderly Conduct, and Strangulation. Komar was transported to the Lafayette County Jail where he remains in custody.
