MONROE - Two area villages and one town holding elections in April have the matter of a caucus to deal with before the spring ballot can be decided.

Monticello, New Glarus and Argyle are each hosting a caucus this month to decide who will be running for seats on their respective village and town boards. For villages, each board is comprised of a president and six trustees, as well as a clerk/treasurer. A town has a chair leading the board with four supervisors and a clerk/treasurer as members.

Information for Browntown was not available.

Town of New Glarus: A caucus for the town is scheduled for Tuesday. The third- and fourth-district supervisors will be decided at the April 5 election. Incumbent Jim Hoesly currently holds the third supervisor position, and incumbent Robert Elkins is seated in the fourth. Both are two-year terms.

Village of Monticello: A caucus was held Wednesday but results will not be finalized until Monday.

Village of Argyle: The village will hold its caucus for the spring election on Tuesday, Jan. 12.
