MONROE - For the second year in a row, the Best Independent Restaurants Association (BIRA) has given Vince's Restaurant & Pizzeria, Monroe, its category Plate Award for Best Independent Restaurants.

After a mystery shop with national guidelines and standards, BIRA judged Vince's Restaurant & Pizzeria to have met its rigorous standards for its category Gold Plate Award.

"Vince's Restaurant & Pizzeria has distinguished itself as one of the restaurants within its community" BIRA Executive Director Robert Skrob said. "Our mystery shoppers gave us a terrific report, and we are proud to include it in our exclusive nationwide directory."

BIRA is a national trade association encouraging consumers everywhere to dine at the nation's best independent restaurants.

"I am proud that the Best Independent Restaurant Association has awarded Vince's Restaurant & Pizzeria its category 2009 Plate Award. It is terrific to be recognized by our industry for providing a 'WOW' experience for our guests." said Vince's owner Fabio Grado.

"Now, new guests can find out what our regular guests already know: Vince's Restaurant & Pizzeria is a great place for Italian food."

According to BIRA, independent restaurants face increasing pressure from rising food costs, labor, workers' compensation, smoking bans and government regulation. Plus, there is more competition from chain restaurants than ever before. BIRA was formed to provide information and resources for restaurants to thrive in today's economy. A complete member directory is available at www.BestIndependentRestaurant.org/directory.
