MONROE — Cody Ingwell, a Monroe native and project engineer for CG Schmidt, the firm that has been doing work at Northside Elementary School this summer, said progress is going as planned and improvements to the school should be completed before the school year begins.
“All the drywall is hung, and the mudding and taping is at 95% complete,” Ingwell said.
Over the final two weeks workers will complete laying tiles in the bathrooms, painting and installing the other finished products. On the exterior of the building, all concrete pouring is complete, including the storm sewer project. Gutters and landscaping will be completed as well before school opens. Next year, in the summer of 2022, a new roof and ceilings will go on the building, meaning access to the entire facility will likely be shut off to school staff.
