Lunch & Learn: Oaks of the World
Oaks of the World

BRODHEAD — Oaks have been a part of our landscapes for centuries, but there is much more to these familiar trees than meets the eye. With more than 500 species found around the world, oaks support an extraordinary number of other plants and animals and provide important benefits to ecosystems. On Nov. 5, Southern Wisconsin Land Conservancy (SWLC) invites the community to Three Waters Reserve for a closer look at these remarkable trees and the important role they play around the world.

Oaks are keystone species, supporting thousands of other species while providing essential ecosystem services across the globe. Attendees will take a closer look at what makes oaks so unique and the many ways they shape the environments around them.

Aryn Swann, Executive Director of Southern Wisconsin Land Conservancy, will take attendees around the world to explore the stories of some extraordinary oaks, including the Jurupa Oak, Seven Sisters Oak, and a special champion oak right here in Wisconsin.

Come discover why oaks are so much more than just another tree, and why their future matters.

Community members interested in learning more about oaks, their ecological importance, and the role they play in supporting healthy ecosystems are encouraged to attend. Registration is required by Nov. 1.
