DARLINGTON — The Driver Opera House, along with the Pop Factory Players, are kicking off the holiday season with two holiday celebrations, the “Holiday Homecoming Dance” at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 22, and “Memories and Traditions of Christmas” at 7 p.m. on Dec. 2 and 3.
These two annual events will be among the holiday highlights in Darlington. The Pop Factory sponsored dance, “Holiday Homecoming Dance,” is being held at the Driver Opera House (250 Main Street) in Darlington at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 22 in the tradition of the long running Fireman’s Dance. Once upon a time, the popular Fireman’s Dance held at the Nelson Middle School gym kicked-off the holiday season. To honor that tradition, the Pop Factory Players will once again be hosting the “Holiday Homecoming Dance” from 6:30-11 p.m. at the Driver Opera House on Nov. 22, featuring the classic big band sound of Ken Killian’s Orchestra and the highly entertaining band, Lynda and the Zeros.
For a second year, dance music for all ages will ring the city into the holiday season providing an excellent opportunity for family and friends to gather and reminisce. All proceeds will go to the Driver Opera House Center for the Arts for its continued restoration.
The Pop Factory will continue the festive celebrations into the Christmas season in the Driver Opera House with a two-day event the first weekend in December, “Memories & Traditions of Christmas” beginning at 7. In addition to the Pop Factory Players sponsorship of these two exciting events, we also acknowledge the Dubuque Racing Association Core Marketing Grant and the Darlington Community Foundation Fund Grant for their important financial contributions to these two events.
The Driver Opera House is moving closer to the installation of an elevator; this is projected for 2024. With continued sponsorships, grants, fundraisers, and generous donations, the Driver Opera House Restoration will be completed.
Join the excitement of the Pop Factory sponsored events at the Driver Opera House this November and December and attend the “Holiday Homecoming Dance” and “Memories & Traditions of Christmas.”
Those that attend will see the potential of this historic venue as a destination center for southwest Wisconsin. The Driver Opera House is three years older than the Statue of Liberty and is a valued entity for Lafayette County and Darlington. Attend with family and friends and enjoy the music and winter wonderland in the Driver Opera House.
