Focus on Energy, Wisconsin's highly successful energy efficiency program will administer a new rebate program made possible with federal American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) funds starting this week. Wisconsin's State Energy-Efficient Appliance Program or SEEAP is the result of a plan submitted by Wisconsin officials in October. There will be cash back rebates starting the beginning of this year. To apply for a rebate consumers must complete and submit a mail in reward application that shall be presented by the retailer at the time of purchase. Retailers are also required to provide proof of proper recycling for refrigerators, freezers of central air conditioners.
This is a great opportunity if you were planning on replacing an older appliance in your home. Make sure you ask your local retailer about the plan and take advance of the program.
Cash-back Rewards are only available to residential customers who are replacing an existing appliance that will be installed in a Wisconsin residence that was purchased after January 1st of this year. Rebates are not retroactive.
To qualify for the rebate a consumers purchase must meet program efficiency requirements. Energy Star marked appliances or other high efficiency appliances qualify for the rebate program. Consumers will receive a mail in reward application at the time of purchase directly from the retailer or contractor. Within 30 days consumers will need to fill out the form, attach a copy of their receipt and submit the form to the provided address. Consumers will receive a rebate check within 6 to 8 weeks.
