Baker: Nolen can’t judge
Letter To The Editor

Nancy Baker, retired Green County Lawyer

Monroe

To the Editor:

I find it laughable that Craig Nolen thinks he is competent to pass judgment on the candidates for the Green County bench. I have at least a casual acquaintance with all of the candidates, as well as Mr. Nolen. Mr. Nolen cannot hold a candle, professionally or personally, to any of the four candidates. Mr. Nolen only has the Bully Pulpit of his elected position because no one ran against him. If someone would (please!), I am confident he would be out of a job.

Life does not fit into neat, little boxes. What you need in a judge is not only someone with legal skills, but also someone with a deep-seated commitment to justice and equity; someone with the ability to grasp realities beyond his or her personal experience; someone who is not afraid to confront challenges to his or her beliefs and to entertain the possibility that they might be wrong; someone with the kind of open-mindedness that fosters wisdom. Jane Bucher has those attributes in spades and that is why I will vote for her.
