For years I've looked for the "better candidate" for whom I wanted to vote. Instead, I kept finding the "lesser of the evils" - until this year. I've finally found a candidate I can admire, trust and whole-heartedly work for. That candidate is Sheila De Forest who is running for the Wisconsin State Assembly from the 45th District.
Why do I want you and your readers to vote for Sheila? Because she wants what is best for you and her other constituents instead of what is best for her. She is not accepting donations from groups, only from individuals who believe in her. She wants to remain independent and be able to work unceasingly for those in her district rather than owing someone favors. And she has proven that she will do this. As a repeat member of the Beloit City Council, Sheila has assessed the needs of her area and fought successfully for them. She has developed non-profit organizations to help her city (one - Sexual Assault Recovery Program - has now expanded to Green County and is successful there as well as in Rock County). She brokered a change in local ordinances which allowed both local landlords and their tenants to benefit. She has taken on the leadership of the food pantry in Orfordville and is also active in Neighbors Helping Neighbors. These are only a few of her accomplishments. To find out more of them and how they have benefited you, contact her webpage: deforestforassembly.com
Sheila first came to Beloit as a student at Beloit College and loved the area and its people. She stayed, taught high school English, became a social worker, and raised her family here. She is very proud of this area of Wisconsin and wants to use her abilities to make it better for those who live here. She does not, however, want to be a career politician. She has committed to serve only two terms in this position.
Aug. 12 is, for all intents and purposes, the election for this seat. The winner of the primary is expected be the new representative from the 45th Assembly District to the State Assembly. Please vote for Sheila De Forest for that position and let her continue to work for you.
