STOUGHTON - The Monroe High School boys tennis team lost a Badger South Conference dual to Stoughton 6-1 on Monday.

Monroe junior Silas Setterstrom at No. 1 singles defeated Stoughton's Stefan Butterbrodt in straight sets 6-0, 6-0.

"We seemed to be evenly matched with Stoughton, but the scores don't show it," Monroe coach Ashley Hermanson said. "There were a lot of games that were deuce tonight, but we couldn't finish out the games."

At No. 2 singles, Stoughton's Levi Robbins defeated Monroe junior Ryan Peterson 6-1, 6-0. At No. 3 singles, Stoughton's Nolan Meyer beat Monroe sophomore Quinn Sulejmani 6-2, 6-0. Adam McCune beat Monroe's Scott Foley 6-1, 6-0 at No. 4 singles.

"Peterson plays with perseverance and determination no matter what the score is," Hermanson said. "He took every game to deuce besides two and just couldn't come out on top."

The Vikings swept all three doubles matches. At No. 1 doubles, Stoughton's Connor Merow and Mitchell Ace defeated Monroe senior Tanner Purdy and junior Kody Althaus 6-4, 6-4.

"Althaus and Purdy fought to win, but faltered in both sets," Hermanson said.

Stoughton's Graham Beebe and Jonathon Blaikie defeated the Ben Dombkowski and Brett Lyne 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2 doubles. At No. 3 doubles, the Vikings' Cole Adams and Jon Yaedon topped Quinn Walsh and Andrew Johnson 6-3, 6-0.

Monroe drops to 0-6 overall and 0-2 in the Badger South. The Cheesemakers will play at Milton today.
