NEW GLARUS - With the way New Glarus junior Grace Moen had been hitting she may have been surprised when her softball coach gave her the bunt sign with no outs and the game-winning run on third base on Tuesday.

Moen laid down a bunt for a single in the seventh inning that scored Kelly Fredrickson to give the Glarner Knights a thrilling comeback 11-10 win over Lake Mills. The Knights entered the bottom of the seventh inning down 10-4 after Lake Mills scored eight runs in the top of the inning.

"They were not expecting it (bunt) because we had been hitting the ball so hard," New Glarus assistant coach Drew Moen said. "It caught them off guard. In the seventh inning it would have been easy to hang our heads after we blew the lead. In the seventh inning everyone came up big."

New Glarus (2-3) had eight straight batters reach base in the rally in the seventh. New Glarus junior Olivia Woodmansee doubled to lead off the inning. Junior teammate Mya Kramer hit a fly ball to left field that the Lake Mills fielder dropped, which allowed Woodmansee to score. Junior Madison Perkins followed with an RBI single to cut the L-Cats' lead to 10-6. Junior Ashley Judd singled and senior Noelle Austin delivered an RBI double to cut the deficit to 10-7. Fredrickson reached on an error that allowed two runs to score. Senior Jessica Van Dusen came through with an RBI double to tie the game at 10. That set the stage for Moen.

The Knights pounded out 14 hits for the second straight game. Austin went 3-for-5 with two RBI, and Kramer was 3-for-5 with one RBI. Woodmansee went 2-for-4 with one RBI, and Moen was 2-for-5 with two RBI.
