CAMBRIDGE — With eight first-place finishes between both boys and girls teams, Sugar River track and field won the Blue Jay Invite on Thursday, April 13. Alex Atwell, who won the high jump (5 feet even), was named the girls MVP.
Individually, four other Raiders won their events. Bryce Babler ran the 800 meter in 2:06.53, Carter Scholey finished the 3200 meter in 9:56.27 and Jack Erickson clocked a time of 43.86 seconds in the 300-meter hurdles. Lawrence Vasquez jumped 6-02.00 to win the high jump.
Four relays also took first — both the boys and girls 4x200, the girls 4x100 and the boys 4x800.
Also at the event was Albany. Ava Ahnen took first in the 1600-meter run with a time of 5:57.49.
KANSAS RELAYS
KANSAS CITY — Black Hawk sent five athletes to the 100th annual Kansas relays, where 240 high school and college teams competed. Raylin Peterson finished 13th in the shot put with a throw of 38-02, while the boys 4x100 relay team took 65th with a time of 46.60 seconds.
CLINTON INVITE
CLINTON — Brodhead-Juda had four individual champions and championship relay team in the Clinton Invite on Saturday, April 15.
Gavin Pinnow and Teagan Pinnow tied for first in the high jump with a leap of 5-10. On the girls end, Madi Brown won with a height of 4-10. Nathan Engen won the triple jump with a distance of 38-03. The boys 4x400 relay won with a time of 3:36.99.
CASSVILLE INVITE
CASSVILLE — Pecatonica-Argyle’s optimal distance proved to be 400 meters in the Cassville Invite on Thursday, April 13. Ridge Toay and Anna Tish won the 400-meter dash with times of 53.91 seconds and 1:05.03, respectively. The boys and girls 4x400 relays also won with times of 3:54.50 and 4:45.07, respectively.
LANCASTER INVITE
LANCASTER — Carver Fitzsimons was the lone champion for Darlington in the Lancaster Invite on Thursday, April 13. He recorded a height of 6-00 in the high jump.
