The Sugar River Raiders won their fourth straight match, 7-0 over Wisconsin Heights-Barneveld in Capitol Conference soccer on May 13 at New Glarus. The win guarantees at least a share of the conference title. It marks the eighth straight conference championship for Sugar River. The Raiders took a 1-0 lead on a first-half goal by senior Kylie Humke at 6:45 with an assist from senior Zoey Lovejoy. Senior Anya Brenkman got an unassisted goal at 11:26 to give Sugar River a 2-0 lead. At 22:50, sophomore Kate Parman drilled a goal with sophomore Ellie Brenkman getting the assist to put Sugar River up 3-0 at halftime over Wisconsin Heights-Barneveld.


The second half started with senior Hannah Boldebuck getting an unassisted goal at 45:20 and the Raiders led 4-0. Seconds later, Anya Brenkman scored again unassisted at 45:59, giving the Raiders a 5-0 lead. Ellie Brenkman got her second goal of the night with an unassisted score at 56:22, giving the Raiders a 6-0 cushion. Anya Brenkman struck again with her third goal of the match, assisted by sophomore Nikole Schultz at 63:43, making the final Sugar River 7, Wisconsin Heights-Barneveld 0. Brenkman now has a team-leading 30 goals on the season along with 14 assists, good for 74 points. In front of the net, senior Mackenzie Ohms had two saves, and junior Savannah Minter had two saves. Sugar River is now 12-2 overall and 5-0 in the Capitol Conference. Sugar River was scheduled to face McFarland on May 15 at Belleville.
In other girls soccer action, Monroe lost to Delavan-Darien at home on May 12, 9-0. The Cheesemakers are scheduled to be at Clinton/Turner on May 16 before hosting Evansville May 19.
