MONROE — Joining other school districts across the region and country, Monroe High School is creating an Athletics Hall of Fame to honor past athletes, coaches and supporters.

The initial class will welcome 18 former athletes, four coaches and two honorary members of distinction.

The class will be acknowledged prior to the Oct. 2 home football game (about 6:30 p.m.), with the induction taking place at 11 a.m. the following day, Saturday, Oct. 3. The induction ceremony is free to attend. There will be hors d’oeuvres and a social hour to follow.

The athletes range from graduates in the 1940s all the way to 2019. The coaches include state coaching association hall of famers with state championships covering the 1960s, ’70s, ’80s, ’90s and 2000s.
