WISCONSIN DELLS — The Cheesemakers shot a collective 382 at Wild Rock Golf Club May 18 at the Badger West Conference meet. The sixth-place finish was consistent with the rest of the league’s mini-meets, as all four other meets Monroe also finished sixth.
Edgewood, which won every meet, was the conference champion, with Oregon taking second. Baraboo and Sauk Prairie tied for third, with Mount Horeb fifth. Portage was sixth, and Reedsburg seventh.
Edgewood’s Alex Weiss was the top scorer this spring, with an average round of 71.6. Teammate Al Deang was second (77.8). Monroe’s Bert Leach was 20th, with an average score of 89.6.
At the conference meet, Leach carded a 17-over-par 89. Aaron Benzschawel had a 91 for Monroe, while Carson Leuzinger finished with a 93 and Brady Spotts a 97. Weiss was the medalist with a 1-under-par 71.
