MONROE — The Cheesemakers were unable to slow the Silver Eagle offense, as Monona Grove cruised to a 77-34 win on Friday, Dec. 2. The Eagles made nine 3-pointers for 27 of their points.

Monona Grove scored 44 first-half points, led by Delaney Bracken with nine. Monroe, conversely, scored just 17 points in the first half, with 10 of them provided by Taylor Jacobson. Twice, she was fouled going to the basket and finished at the line for the 3-point play.

The Silver Eagles slowed in the second half for 33 points. At the end of two halves, Monona Grove had three players in double figures: Bracken (13), Karsyn Nelson (11) and Taylor Moreau (10). Eight different players made a shot from beyond the arc, while Lauren Reed made two.

Monroe scored 17 again in the second half, where Lindsay Leuzinger went 4-for-4 from the free throw line. At the end of the game, Jacobson and Leuzinger totaled 15 and 10 points, respectively. Delaney Fortney was also perfect at the charity stripe for two points. Allison Wunschel scored two points in each half for a total of four, while Sophie Golembiewski had one bucket. Sophia Douglas also made the score book with one made free throw.
