STOUGHTON — The Monroe-New Glarus CheeseKnights competed at Stoughton High School and came away with an 88-78 victory on Sept. 3.
“This was truly a team effort from start to finish,” MNG head coach Rachel Root said. “Several girls had back-to-back events and had to practice racing while tired, and they stepped up when their team needed them. There were also several breakout swims and personal-best performances. It continues to be so exciting to see the progress these girls are making.”
Chloe White won the 200 Free, finishing in 2:27.90. Root said her final 50 yards were very strong.
“She dropped more than 10 seconds from her first swim at DeForest,” Root said.
Kennedy Shunk also had an impressive 200 Free, dropping eight seconds from her time from the DeForest meet.
Hadleigh Shunk swam a personal-best time in the 100 Fly, while Lauryn Arnett dropped two seconds in her 500 Free from the first meet of the season. Anneliese Ramirez had two personal-best swims, dropping a second in the 200 IM and three seconds in the 500 Free. Kennedy Sysko also dropped six seconds from her 200 IM time from last year at this point in the season, Root added.
“These improvements are a great reflection of the hard work the girls are putting in at practice,” Root said.
