NEW GLARUS — The Cardinals picked up a non-conference win Dec. 27 at the New Glarus holiday tournament, knocking off Milwaukee Lifelong Learning, 96-65.
Cullen Walker led the way for Brodhead, scoring 29 points in the game, including 18 in the first half. Gabe Bockhop (16), Brody Riese (14) and Sam Searls (13) also scored in double figures for the Cardinals. In fact, 13 of the 14 Brodhead players that entered the game scored.
Much of the work was done inside by the Cardinals. Brodhead made 36 shots from 2-point range compared to just five from the outside — four of which came in the first half when the Cards jumped out to a 37-37 lead by the break. Adam Turay led Milwaukee with 35 points.
Meanwhile, New Glarus bumped off Beloit Turner 62-59, setting up a championship game with Brodhead on Dec. 30. Both the Glarner Knights and Trojans were knotted at 28 halfway through the game, and the host Knights pulled it out late in the second half.

Westby 56
DARLINGTON — The Redbirds scored a complete-game victory over Westby in a nonconference affair Dec. 28. Darlington out-scored its opponent 45-29 in the first half and 36-27 in the second half.
The Redbirds (4-2, 3-1 SWAL) are back in action Jan. 3 at home against Southwestern (8-1, 3-1), which is ranked 5th in Division 5 in the most recent WBCA poll.
Parkview 68, Albany 51
ORFORDVILLE — The Comets got knocked around for the second straight nonconference game. After winning the first five games of the season, Albany has now lost back-to-back by 17 points or more against Brodhead and Parkview.
Aidan Crane led the Vikings with 28 points, while Mathias Treinen added another 22 for the home team. The pair were a combined 19-for-34 (55.8%) from the field, including a 10-for-14 mark (71.4%) showing from behind the 3-point line.
The Comets get back in action Jan. 3 with a Six Rivers crossover at Cassville.
